If at first glance the iPhone X and the iPhone XS seem identical in all respects, there are in reality differences; a first at the camera level and a second at the low speaker level. IPhone X cases will not always be compatible with iPhone XS.
IPhone X cases on iPhone XS
Even if the exterior design of the iPhone XS is practically unchanged compared to the iPhone X, the devices are not identical. The site Macotakara found that the outline of the camera on the iPhone XS is slightly larger than that of the iPhone X. This means that some existing protective cases and shells will not be perfectly suited.
First difference: the camera
If you look closely, you can see that the camera of the iPhone X does not completely fill the hole reserved for it on the shell of the iPhone XS, which means that the cutout is not ideal for introducing a iPhone XS.
Although the thickness of the outline of the camera may appear unchanged, the body has increased a bit; Macotakara took action and found that the iPhone X shell offered by Apple had a 25.39 mm long camera slot whilee that of the shell for iPhone XS is 25.68 mm in length.
Second difference: the speaker at the Lightning port
Not to mention that the iPhone X has six holes for the speaker on each side of the Lightning port and that the iPhone XS has three on the left (because of an additional antenna strip on the bottom left chassis) and six on the right.
An iPhone X case will therefore not always be compatible with the iPhone XS and vice versa. If you have an iPhone X and you plan to get an iPhone XS, you may (may) have to buy a new case for your iPhone XS.
We also invite you to take a look at the iPhone XS cases available on our online store, which are all specially designed for each iPhone model, taking into account their specificities.
