And if instead of a home button, your iPhone had a physical button to act as a joystick? The idea seems rather wacky, but Apple engineers believe that such a mechanism could be viable.
A patent application recently filed by the Cupertino company describes a “multi-function input device”That could one day change the way we interact with our Apple devices. The idea is relatively simple. The Home button on the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch could pop out and become a real joystick for navigation and games.
Two modes would thus be proposed. The first being identical to the one we know (home button at the same level as the screen), and the second being the one described above. Apple says such a button would greatly improve the user experience, but the Californian brand recognizes that intensive use could quickly alter the hardware in addition to becoming frustrating. What do you think of such a patent?
