Between theiPhone 8 Plus Apple and the Galaxy Note 8 from Samsung, which smartphone is most resistant to falls? YouTube channel hosts PhoneBuff tried to answer this question in one of their last videos.
Unveiled on August 23, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is the successor to the Note 7. With this new model, the South Korean technology giant intends to make people forget the fiasco of its phablet from last year. On the Apple side, the iPhone 8 Plus is the successor to the iPhone 7 Plus. The new phone is one of the first models of the apple brand to offer wireless charging.
iPhone 8 Plus vs Galaxy Note 8: the drop test
The first test consisted in dropping the 2 smartphones on their backs, from a certain height. They all have a glass back, and each one showed cracks after the test. The Cupertino brand claims to use ” the toughest glass ever seen on a smartphone ” However, the difference with the Samsung phone is not seen after the first test.
In the second test, PhoneBuff chose to test the resistance of the lower right corner for these two devices. The iPhone 8 Plus seems to be better off than the Note 8. Then comes the drop test on the front, the screen therefore pointing towards the ground. Result: the iPhone had cracks visible on the screen, while there were some scratches at the corners on the Galaxy Note 8.
The bonus test consisted in dropping each smartphone consecutively a dozen times. It took more than 8 falls to see the Note 8 panel actually crack. After 10 attempts, the camera was no longer functional, but the phone remained operational. The iPhone 8 Plus is more sensitive to shock. Pieces of the shell came off after only 5 falls. After 8 attempts, the touchscreen has malfunctioned, making the device almost unusable.
