iPhone 8: a motherboard replacement program deployed by Apple

2 iPhone 8 1000x667 iPhone 8: a motherboard replacement program deployed by AppleApple announced last Friday the deployment of a motherboard replacement program for iPhone 8.

The company says that the iPhone 8 sold between September 2017 and March 2018 in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macao, New Zealand and the United States will be affected.

“Apple has determined that a very small percentage of iPhone 8s contain motherboards with a manufacturing defect. Affected devices may experience unexpected reboots, a frozen screen, or be unable to turn on. Apple will repair the eligible devices for free, “said the Californian giant on its site.

Like most other Apple repair programs, users will need the serial number of their device (in this case the iPhone 8 serial number, in this case) that they will need to enter on the Apple’s website reserved for the program.

As usual, devices with any kind of physical damage, such as a broken screen, will need to be repaired before taking advantage of the motherboard replacement service. However, Apple is not mentioning whether or not this problem is also affecting the iPhone 8 Plus at this time.
