A few months ago, corridor noises announced that Apple was going to turn to Intel for the production of modem which would equip its future iPhone of 2016 (read: iPhone 7: Apple would have finally chosen Intel for the modem). Well, it looks like this rumor is confirmed today.
Indeed, after an in-depth analysis of the motherboard of the firm’s next smartphone with the apple, the site MacRumors deduced that part of the modems intended foriPhone 7 may well be provided by Intel.
Thus, as rumors have reported in recent months, part of the iPhone 7 could acquire an Intel modem. Another part would integrate a modem Qualcomm as is the case for all iPhones since the first model in 2007.
If Apple this time turned to Intel, it is probably thanks to the exceptional performance of the modem produced by this manufacturer. If the rumors are to be believed, the Intel modem on board the iPhone 7 (the XMM 7360) would benefit from a downstream speed of 450 Mb / s and an amount of 100 Mb / s. Performance that greatly exceeds that of modem that equips the iPhone 6S (300 Mb / s in download and 50 Mb / s in upload).
