It seems more than everApple plans to manufacture sapphire crystal screens for its future smartphones, especially theIphone 6. Indeed, 9to5Mac reports that GT Advanced, the manufacturer of Apple, is preparing to manufacture sapphire for iPhone screens.
Thanks to import / export documents recovered by the site, we know that GT Advanced has placed this order for components from Intego Sirius Sapphire Display Inspection Tool. According to other transport documents and data provided by the company Margolis, GT Advanced has already received 518 manufacturing units, in addition to an order for 420 other machines (which have yet to be assembled).
The first 518 units could be used to manufacture between 103 million and 116 million 5 inch iPhone screens per year. The additional machines could almost double this annual production with an additional 84 million to 94 million screens. Finally, GT Advanced has also ordered more than 100 tonnes of graphite material for the ovens.
