Apple may well equip all iPhone 13s with LiDAR sensors. The technology, introduced with the latest iPad Pro and extended to the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max, would even be found on several other devices in the years to come. Manufacturers of Android smartphones are also interested in the famous scanner.
Apple has great ambitions for its LiDAR sensor. The technology, which allows the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max to accurately measure people’s height, is currently not present on the iPhone 12 and 12 Mini. It seems that this is about to change on the next flagships of the Cupertino company. Indeed, new information indicates that the latter plans to include a LiDAR scanner in all iPhone 13.
This move would follow Apple’s same strategy for OLED displays. Only the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max were fitted with it, while all iPhone 12s received it when they were released. In addition, technology has been one of the major selling points stated by the manufacturer during the presentation of its latest smartphones, as well as that of the latest iPad Pro. It therefore seems logical that future devices in turn offer this functionality.

Other Apple devices could be equipped with a LiDAR sensor
The LiDAR sensors used by Apple are manufactured by Sony, with which the firm at the apple has signed a three-year contract. It is therefore possible that the latter will extend the technology to other devices. The company has already filed a patent for Apple Glass, which would have a “night vision” mode thanks to the scanner.
Glasses would not be the only ones to benefit from the device. The Titan project led by Apple aims to integrate the LiDAR sensor into self-driving cars. On the Android side, several manufacturers, Samsung in the lead, are in turn looking at the technology for their next smartphones. The Cupertino company could present the four iPhone 13 expected in September 2021, in accordance with his habits.
