Apple, who presented iOS in the Car last June (read: iOS 7: News and video presentation), has since remained silent about this new feature of its mobile OS. Developer Steve Throughton-Smith posted several screenshots of the driver’s device on his Twitter account yesterday.
Apple has added auto functionality to the second beta version of iOS 7.1 (read: iOS 7.1 beta 2: added setting for “iOS in the car”, prompting rumors of an impending launch. However, if BGR sources are correct, there will be two more betas, and iOS 7.1 will arrive sometime in March, meanwhile Apple is working closely with automakers like Honda, Mercedes, Nissan, Ferrari, Chevrolet, Kia , Hyundai, Volvo or Jaguar to integrate this new functionality into their models planned for 2014.
IOS in the Car allows iPhone users to reflect their handset on the dashboard screen built into their car. If the vehicle is equipped with the system, users can for example connect their iPhone to make phone calls safely, access music, get directions via Apple Maps, send and receive messages, etc.
