Apple has updated its Developer page on the App Store to indicate that adoption of iOS 7 has reached 79% of its terminals dated January 12, 2014. This estimate, based on the use of its application store, also reveals that iOS 6 users represent 18% of the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. As a reminder, at the end of December, this adoption rate for iOS 7 reached 78%, up from 74% at the start of the previous month.
For comparison, Google updated its Android distribution rate last week and noted that only 1.4% of users have the latest KitKat 4.4 software installed on their devices. These data were collected within seven days ending January 8, 2013.
IOS 7 was released last September and initial estimates indicated an adoption rate of 35% in less than 24 hours (read: iOS 7: already present on 29% of iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch). Finally, last month, Chitika reported that 74% of iPhones in Canada and the United States were running iOS 7, results obtained from their web analytics and advertising data.
