A few days ago, we announced the publication of the very first iOS 12 jailbreak by the famous hacker Geosn0w (read: OsirisJailbreak12: a 1st iOS 12 jailbreak tool is born!). The latter did not yet allow the installation of Cydia and was therefore reserved for experienced users.
Developer Sam Bingner posted a video on Twitter yesterday in which he launches Cydia on an iPhone X on which the firmware is installed iOS 12.1.1. We can see that the Saurik app store is fully functional, and it is even possible to install tweaks! The man accompanied his screen recording with a message stating that “the minimum works“, Including Cydia and Cydia Substrate (which allows the installation of a large part of the tweaks). Great news!
At the same time, hacker Pwn20wnd, creator of the Unc0ver jailbreak, added on Twitter that support for Cydia and Cydia Substrate for iOS 12 is not yet available to the general public but will be in an update beta soon.
As a reminder, the iOS 12 jailbreak will be compatible with all iDevices under iOS 12.1.1 or an earlier firmware of the latest major version of Apple’s mobile OS. The Cupertino company has corrected the flaws used by OsirisJailbreak12 with the release of iOS 12.1.2.
Well minimal stuff works – still need to do a lot but I have a shell, Cydia works and substrate mostly works. Don’t hold your breath but it’s progressing. pic.twitter.com/bBbZO2Seoy
