The final version of iOS 12.4 is available for download a few days ago now. It brings some new features such as: a new migration tool to wirelessly transfer data from an old iPhone to a new iPhone, the return of the Walkie-Talkie function on the Apple Watch, support from Japan and Taiwan for the HomePod and more. But that’s not all, iOS 12.4 embeds, under the hood, a notable change: better autonomy.

After installing iOS 12.4 on several iPhones, the YouTube channel iAppleBytes carried out a test in order to compare the autonomy with iOS 12.3.1 then with iOS 12.4 on the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPhone 7 and iPhone 8. And the result is rather breathtaking, since the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 have had a considerable gain in autonomy.

Here are the results obtained after the test:

  • iPhone 5s (with a battery having a maximum capacity of 95%): 2 hours and 46 minutes with iOS 12.3.1, 3 hours and 4 minutes with iOS 12.4
  • iPhone 6 (maximum capacity of 100%): 2 hours and 46 minutes with iOS 12.3.1, 3 hours and 20 minutes with iOS 12.4
  • iPhone 6s (maximum capacity of 100%): 3 hours and 25 minutes with iOS 12.3.1, 3 hours and 25 minutes with iOS 12.4
  • iPhone 7 (maximum capacity of 90%): 3 hours and 9 minutes with iOS 12.3.1, 3 hours and 43 minutes with iOS 12.4
  • iPhone 8 (maximum capacity 99%): 3 hours and 21 minutes with iOS 12.3.1, 3 hours and 40 minutes with iOS 12.4
