Just over 5 months after its launch, iOS 10 is now installed on 79% iOS devices, according to official data provided by Apple. To obtain this figure, the apple brand is based on data from devices connected to the App Store. The information collected also indicates that 16% of iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch owners are still on iOS 9, while 5% are still using earlier versions.
This shows a bigger increase compared to that of iOS 9 last year. At the same time, the previous major version of Apple’s mobile operating system had only 77% adoption rate. In the past 2 months, the use of iOS 10 has seen a sharp increase. In January, it was only installed on 76% of Apple devices.
As usual, the Cupertino company did not indicate the reasons for this significant increase. According to some observers, the record sales of the iPhone 7 could explain this increase, while others refer to the recent release of the jailbreak for iOS 10.2.
In the coming months, it would not be surprising to see the operating system experience a significant increase in its adoption rate. Indeed, a version 10.3, endowed with new functionalities, should arrive during the weeks to come.
