iMac Pro: iFixit dismantled Apple’s latest desktop computer

Released on December 14,iMac Pro is sold from 5,499 euros on the Apple Online Store. The teamiFixit was able to get hold of Apple’s new desktop computer and disassembled it as usual.

In its basic configuration, the iMac Pro has an 8-core Intel Xeon processor with 32 GB of ECC DDR4 RAM at 2666 MHz, an Radeon Pro Vega 56 graphics card of 8 GB and a 1 TB SSD hard drive. the latest apple brand machine is customizable. Depending on the configuration, its price can go up to 15,339 euros!

The 2017 iMac Pro is meant to be a modular computer. It is therefore possible to replace the processor, RAM and SSD. However, the components are quite difficult to access. It is necessary to disassemble the whole device to be able to handle them. The new Apple computer and the iMac 5K have the same screen model. However, the difference in the wiring prevents mounting the screen from one to the other.

If in appearance, the new iMac Pro is very similar to other iMacs, iFixit notes that the internal architecture is very different on the two types of devices. Following its test, the tutorial site gave a rating of “repairability” of 3 out of 10 to the new terminal from Apple.
