Dell took advantage of its conference IFA to present a new Ultrabook, the XPS Duo 12. At first glance, this machine seems to be quite a classic. You have to manipulate your screen to get the most out of it. By detaching it from its frame, the slab pivots on itself 180 ° to find itself upside down and thus transform the XPS Duo 12 in touch pad when its cover is closed.

This is not the American manufacturer’s first foray into the convertible PC sector. We remember that in 2010, he had already been responsible for an Inspiron Duo of this type. Thick and heavy, it had not left a lasting impression. Here, the Duo 12 belongs to the XPS range, the same one that hosts Dell Ultrabooks. Michael Dell’s firm did not explicitly advertise it as Ultrabooks, but the XPS Duo 12 seems to have all the exterior characteristics.

On the technical side, we do not yet know much, Dell has not yet transmitted this information to us. We know that it displays a 12-inch touch screen with definition Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels), works on an Ivy Bridge architecture that can go up to the Core i7 and that it takes the materials of the XPS 13. The outer shell is thus made of aluminum, the screen is protected by a panel Gorilla Glass and the lower shell is made of carbon.

With such a machine, Dell is entering a field currently occupied by Asus Taichi, MSI S20 or Lenovo Yoga. A point differs compared to these models for the XPS Duo 12. Dell announced that it would be marketed soon, without specifying when or at what price.
