iCloud about to launch

Apple has warned that it will be doing major maintenance on its iCloud service this Thursday. The launch of the Gold Master version of iOS 5 could follow immediately after.

In a message posted recently on the forums reserved for developers, Apple warns that the iCloud service (currently in test phase) will be interrupted this September 22 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., Belgian time). The Cupertino company indicates that it intends to delete previous backups made from iDevices. New backups can be done after this maintenance. “A full backup will take place the next time your device connects to iCloud”, Apple said, adding that the purge will not affect email stored in Mail, contacts, calendars, and bookmarks.
