Published by Nintendo and developed by the Omega Force studio (which works for Koei Tecmo), Hyrule Warriors on Wii U is a pure action game set in the world of Zelda. Dynasty Warriors players will not be out of the country since Hyrule Warriors is nothing more than a clone of this famous Beat Them All 3D transposed into the universe of Link.
A Dynasty Warriors Zelda Sauce
Thisspin offofThe Legend of Zeldahas the intelligence to have been able to integrate wisely the elements which made the success of the legend of Zelda withDynasty Warriors. Players will happily rediscover (and in HD) different places in the worldHyrulelike the pril mountain, lake Hylia, the Gerudo desert, the dusk palace (Twilight Princess) or the Ordinn volcano (Skyward Sword). But of course, these places have been reworked and transformed into battlefields for the needs of the game.
Besides the places, heroes from the Zelda universe are also present. The cast includes 13 playable characters, which you will have to unlock, among which we will notably include Zelda, Link, Impa, Sheik, Ganondorf or Midona.
Proven gaming dynamics
Hyrule Warriors offers a classic concept, in line with other games ofKoei Tecmo. Your character, possibly accompanied by an acolyte, will have to knock down hundreds of enemies (goblins of all hairs) before arriving at the boss, who will not be more tough than his henchmen Once the task accomplished, you will then be master of the fort you come to attack. After that ? Well we start again! Fortunately, different missions, such as protecting a character, are present to break the monotony of the game.
The character progression system is well thought out: new combos are unlocked, as are defensive or support bonuses. As for the weapons available, they are numerous and varied. The latter can themselves gain in efficiency by going to the scrap yard. It is a real pleasure to see his character evolve over the games.
Finally, note that if the game offers a local multi, no online mode is unfortunately present. Fights involving four or eight players on the same battlefield could have been spiked!
Details that make the difference
Let’s not get into the simplistic scenario (the witch Cya, guardian of theTriforce, sees himself corrupted by the dark lord, which will trigger terrible confrontations), but let us highlight the different points that can seduce the players. If by definition, aBeat Them AllAs Dynasty Warriors is more of a nag, Hyrule Warriors has integrated very beautifully different little elements that make the difference.
Thus, the life bar gives way to the courses that we will lose by quarter. Rubies, objects and other chests (where we find the classic four musical notes at the opening!) Were of course imported into this action game. This will allow you to improve your weapons and skills during the game. Likewise, we find the main objects that made the success of the adventure series such as the bow, the boomerang, the bomb or even the grappling hook (hooo the grappling hook!). As always, the great fes will watch over you by guiding you in your priple. Special mention for the casseroles who will help you (or not). Finally, the musical themes of Zelda are present in the title, to the delight of fans of the license.
Graphically: good and (especially) not so good
Do not procrastinate, Hyrule Warriors is not the most beautiful game on Wii U. Far from it. If the cinematics are successful, the textures sometimes lack finesse, the aliasing is very present and the decorations are sometimes quite empty. A sail which counterbalances a correct graphic quality, but which does not sparkle.
Hyrule Warriors Review
Hyrule Warriors has a curious feeling. Indeed, despite a technical achievement just the height and a redundancy very present, the game managed to seduce. Fans of the genre will even find it difficult to put the gamepad. The magic of mixing genres works. And although we are very far from the adventure game, the Zelda license is however perfectly respected in this action game which becomes a beautiful drain, sometimes bordering on enjoyable!
