Hybrid PC: how to choose? Which one to buy?

Hybrid PC: how to choose? Which one to buy?

The netbook 2.0

In 2007, Asus presented its Eee PC, a 7-inch laptop using Intel’s Atom platform. Compact machine with limited performance, but very affordable, it has given birth to a new category of machines: netbooks. The competition was quick to follow suit. Everyone went there from their home netbook.

Eight years later, history repeats itself, but since then technologies have evolved and the market has experienced the surge of touch pads. What is unofficially called the netbook 2.0 has therefore been modernized to cope with this new use. The hybrid PC was born.

Atom at the controls

New darling of laptop manufacturers since 2012, this machine combines the advantage of a tablet, with a detachable touch screen, with the comfort of the computer, with a dock-keyboard. Expensive at first, it gradually became more popular thanks in particular to the use of old knowledge: Intel’s Atom, the same range of processors that fitted part of the netbooks.

Multiple references to more or less 400 euros now clash on store shelves. How to find your way around? What are the elements to take into account? What are the characteristics to avoid? This guide guides you in your search for the best hybrid PC suited to your needs.
