Huawei: analysts predict a 42% drop in sales in 2021

The year 2021 could prove to be just as complicated for Huawei. According to several analysis firms, the Shenzhen firm will record a 42% drop in sales in 2021, reaching a total of only 110 million devices sold. Figures that can be explained in part by the sale of Honor.

If you’ve been following Android news for the past two years, there is no need to give you a full summary of Huawei’s situation. The Shenzhen firm is still on the blacklist, and at the time of numerous trade sanctions from the United States. Cornered and in great financial difficulty, the manufacturer was forced to separate from its subsidiary Honor.

The brand has been sold to a Chinese consortium for a sum exceeding 12.8 billion dollars. Once the operation was carried out, the CEO of Huawei gave a speech to the employees of Honor in order to wish them good luck … and to affirm in passing that the American policies wish the death of Huawei.

110 million smartphones in 2021 for Huawei

While the sale of Honor helped to bail out the Huawei ship to some extent, the manufacturer and analysts are not the most optimistic for the year 2021. Already in September 2020, Huawei estimated that it could only sell 50 million smartphones in 2021. However, on Monday, December 7, 2020, the picture could be less gloomy for the manufacturer, with forecasts set at 110 million smartphones sold in 2021. Which represents a significant drop of 42% in sales compared to 2020 figures (over 190 million devices sold).

According to the analysis firm Eugene Investment & Securities, Huawei’s declining health will obviously benefit its competitors, Samsung in the lead. According to their predictions, Samsung Expected to Record 17% Global Sales Increase compared to 2020. Despite this more than complicated situation, the manufacturer is not giving up.

The launch of a first smartphone under HarmonyOS in 2021 is the first step in this renewal. “From next year, HarmonyOS can be used in smartphones, smart TVs, smartwatches, PCs, cars and other products” argued CEO Richard Yu. We must not forget that Huawei has sacred assets, starting with its record manufacturing times: Huawei is able to manufacture a smartphone in just 27 seconds.
