Huawei: a new range of smartphones (high-end?) Will be presented on October 17

Huawei has a new range of smartphones to present to us. The Chinese manufacturer has just sent an invitation to the press to this effect. An appointment is made for October 17 to find out more.

The invitation just fell into our mailbox. It is accompanied by an image highlighting the contours of a completely borderless smartphone. Another detail to note, a bright spot at the top right that seems to materialize the front photo sensor of the device. It would be a first for Huawei which even on its recent Mate 30 remains faithful to the notch, thinner than before, but still present.

Finally, there is no trace of speaker. The screen is full and smooth. Huawei would therefore use an alternative audio technology using the vibrations emitted by the OLED screen. A process that the Chinese manufacturer has already implemented with the P30 Pro, with quite little success, the result being a rather muffled sound.

Private Google, we wonder what Huawei will present

And that’s about it. No additional clue to get your teeth into with this “Save the Date”. Huawei is talking about a new range, so we are not dealing with the Mate 30. Recently presented, they are not yet planned for the French market, the fault of the absence of Google services on these devices, final today, by the way. In question, the war between Huawei and the United States. Trump has forced various U.S. companies to end their dealings with Huawei. Google is one of them. Smartphones launched before this embargo can continue to use Google services (Play Store, Maps, Photos, Gmail, etc.). On the other hand, the new children are deprived of it.

This is why we are not entitled to the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro at the moment, although Huawei “is looking for a way to offer them to the French market”. In the meantime, this invitation is falling out of nowhere. We were not prepared to have a new range of Huawei smartphones in France.

We are intrigued to know what it is and especially what strategy Huawei will implement to release a new device in France without Android. There are three solutions: either an agreement has been reached with Google, or it will happen without Google services (a bullet in the foot), or with Harmony OS. The latter solution is the least likely, Huawei announced in late August that it would not launch a smartphone with its home system in 2019. Response to all of this on October 17.
