HTC unveils its Blockchain smartphone: Exodus 1

On the program, 6-inch screen, Snapdragon 845, four cameras and a price of 0.15 bitcoin

The HTC Blockchain smartphone was eagerly awaited, it is now official. As expected, this Exodus 1 takes up the design of the HTC U12 + by offering it a semi-transparent gray shell like what had been done by Xiaomi on the Mi8 Explorer Edition. On the program, a 6-inch screen, a Snapdragon 845, four cameras and a price of 0.15 bitcoin. But as at Xiaomi, it is therefore not the real components that we see appearing, but an impression.Image 1: HTC unveils its Blockchain smartphone: Exodus 1

In terms of specifications, they are the same as those of the U12 +: – A 6-inch QHD + screen – A Snapdragon 845 SoC – 2 front cameras of 8Mpx – 2 cameras of 12 and 16Mpx The Exodus 1 will be equipped with HTC audio systems: BoomSound Hi-Fi and active Usonic noise cancellation. It will also be possible to launch applications by shaking the phone with Edge Sense 2. Finally, it is validated for IP68 protection, has a single SIM port and has a 3500mAh battery.

What makes this smartphone new is to look for on the software side. Running Android Oreo, it focuses on security. The goal is to very securely store keys, passwords and virtual currency in a separate enclosure from the rest of the OS. HTC announces that it will soon be possible to store other types of personal data there. HTC has also developed its own “virtual wallet” called Zion Wallet. The Exodus 1 is capable of launching decentralized applications on the blockchain and has a Social Key Recovery functionality to allow the user to regain access to his cryptocurrencies if he should lose their keys. Already available for pre-order at the price of 0.15 BTC or 4.78 ETH, it will be delivered from December.
