According to HP, the Specter 13 is the “thinnest laptop in the world”. With a thickness of 10.4 millimeters, this new ultrabook stands out for its finesse. By making his presentation at the Palais Trianon in Versailles, the American manufacturer set the tone. The Specter 13 ranks among the very high-end products, it will be a serious competitor for the MacBook (which displays a thickness of 1.31cm).
The Specter 13 combines meticulous design and high performance
HP used materials known for their resistance and lightness, polished aluminum and carbon fibers make up the chassis. Thus, the Specter 13 weighs only 1.1 kg. The manufacturer opted for a 13.3-inch IPS panel with a Full HD display. A Corning Glass protects the screen.
HP will offer two models, a basic version and a more efficient model. So, the buyer can choose between a Core i5 or i7 processor and the hard drive capacities will vary from 256 to 1 TB. Music lovers will also be spoiled with the speakers designed by Bang & Olufsen.
To prevent overheating, HP has opted for an active cooling system designed by Intel. It consists of sucking in cold air, facilitating its movement inside the machine and then exhaling hot air.
The Specter 13 will hit the market next May and will cost 1,499 euros. We are now awaiting the response from Apple, which could launch new 13- and 15-inch MacBooks.
