If you use a smartphone with multiple cameras at the back, you will notice that there is usually no option to switch from one lens to another. This is also the case with the Galaxy S10, but there is good news: WhatsApp now allows you to use the camera's ultra wide-angle lens. Here's how in this article.
No, there is no new button for the ultra wide angle lens. But the method is simpler than you think: once in WhatsApp, each time you switch from the rear camera to the front camera, the application alternates between normal rear camera and ultra wide angle camera.
So, if you want to take a wide angle photo with WhatsApp, if the application shows you the normal rear camera, you just have to go to the front camera, and again to the rear camera. On your return, the rear camera will be passed on the ultra wide-angle lens. If you want to take a normal photo, you must once again pass the front camera and return the rear camera.
In addition, WhatsApp also allows you to change the viewing angle of the front camera. On the Galaxy S10, the camera app lets you use a cropped view for selfies or the full 80-degree field of view, and WhatsApp toggles between the two modes as it does between rear camera lenses.
This trick not only works on the Galaxy S10, but on any Samsung smartphone with an ultra wide-angle lens on the back. Unfortunately, it does not work on other applications like Facebook or Instagram …. Only on WhatsApp, for the moment.
