Finding the source of a problem encountered in Windows 10 is not always easy. To help you identify the problem, it is possible to start Windows in Safe Mode. Your PC then starts up in Windows in a minimalist version where certain files and drivers are not loaded.
This simplified Windows report should be able to help you identify the cause of your problem. If the problem does not recur when Windows is started in Safe Mode, the system default settings are not affected.
In addition, two versions of the safe mode exist: the classic safe mode, ideal if you have to perform a security analysis to track malware for example, and the safe mode with network support. This allows you to use Windows in safe mode, but by adding network drivers to allow you to access the Internet, useful for example to pass the installation of an update that would not go into normal mode.
Several methods are possible to start your PC under Windows 10 in safe mode.
Start Windows 10 in Safe Mode from Settings
1. Open the Settings
Start by opening the settings Windows. To do this, click on the menu Dmarrer and click on the icon showing a notched wheel. You can also use the key combination directly Windows + i. Then go to the menu Updates and security,
2. Access recovery options
Enter the section Rcupration then, under the title Advanced start, click on Restart now.
3. Restart in Safe Mode
Your PC should display a blue window indicating Choose an option. Click on Troubleshoot, then on Advance options and finally settings.
A window summarizing all the boot options that will be applied is displayed. Click on the button Redmarrer to restart Windows in safe mode.
Once your machine restarts, a window Boot parameters displays and offers several options. Press 4 or F4 on your keyboard to start in safe mode, and 5 or F5 to start in safe mode with network support.
Start Windows 10 in safe mode from the login screen
If you cannot access Windows Settings to start your PC in safe mode, restart your machine and do it directly from the login screen to your session.
To do this, from the Windows login screen, press the key. Shift on your keyboard and click On / off, then on Redmarrer.
A blue page Choose an option should be displayed. Click on Troubleshoot, then on Advance options and finally settings.
