AirPods are so easy and natural to use that you almost forget they have a battery. And who says battery, says recharging. Before you end up with completely unloaded costers, it would be good to know the level of their load, right? Be aware that there is at least one way per device to see the battery percentage of your AirPods.
To know the different means of seeing the state of charge, the percentage of battery of your AirPods, you will already have to have connected your AirPods to your iOS or macOS device for methods 2, 3 and 4. For that, it is very simple.
- Open the case (with the AirPods inside);
- Your iOS device will detect and connect them;
- They will be connected thus all the devices having the same iCloud account, you will only have to change the audio output source or go through the Bluetooth of iOS or macOS devices;
- To connect a device with a different iCloud shot, you will simply need to press the back button of the case for a few seconds to make it detectable in Bluetooth.
Pairing AirPods is very intuitive and their configurations are relatively easy as long as we know that it exists.
Method 1: see the battery level thanks to the AirPods box
This method does not require any external device other than your AirPods, but is not very precise. When the case is opened, between the 2 AirPods, you can see a charge status indicator. If you have the wireless box, the indicator is on the front, under the notch to open it, you will still have to open the box, or put it on a charging station, so that it lights up. This indicator light gives you up to 3 pieces of information depending on its color:
1.1. Green, the battery is 100%;
1.2. Orange, the battery is below 100% not being more precise, that can be 99% as 1%;
1.3. dyed, there is no more battery, it is 0% and needs to be charged.
If your AirPods are stored in the case, the light will indicate their battery. If this is not the case and the case is empty, then you will know the state of charge of the latter always thanks to the same indicator.
Method 2: see the battery level of your AirPods using the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad
2.1. Automatic display
When pairing the device, you should have seen a window automatically displayed with the battery percentage of the case and the headphones, see separate headphones if they do not have the same load level.
To display this window, you will need to have the case close to the iPhone with at least one AirPod inside and then open it.
2.2. The Battery widget
This window is very practical, but in full use of the 2 AirPods this would mean that you will have to remove your AirPods, put them in the case, close it and then open it again. There, one immediately loses efficiency. This is where the Battery widget comes into action. With this widget you can see the battery of your AirPods, but also of your Apple Watch on your iPhone or your Apple Pencil on iPad.
The widget page is the leftmost page, whether your screen is locked or not. If there is no Battery widget:
2.2.1. Go down to the bottom;
2.2.2. Press on Edit ;
2.2.3. Find the widget Drums and click on + in green, if you wish to move it where you wish;
2.2.4. Validate with okay.
When you listen to music, watch a video, you can choose the audio and video output. When music or video is on the way, you can find it in the control center. Here is how to know the charge status of your cutters in full use:
2.3.1. In music, on the current song, press the icon at the very bottom in the middle, the one that looks like a mix between AirDrop and AirPlay;
2.3.2. In the control center, press long or hard on the shortcut for the current playback
2.3.3. You can see the battery percentage of your AirPods there.
Method 3: see the battery level of your AirPods on your Apple Watch
For this method, you must have paired an Apple Watch and AirPods an iPhone.
You can know the state of the battery of your AirPods in use whether they’re connected to your watch or phone. It works since the AirPods 1 and with the very first Apple Watch.
3.1. Swipe from bottom to top to display the different options;
3.2. Tap the Apple Watch battery percentage;
3.3. In addition to the possibility of the reserved mode, you will see the state of charge of your AirPods.
Method 4: see the battery level of your AirPods from your Mac
Just like iOS, your Mac can quickly connect your AirPods. You can select them by choosing the audio output in His or connect them with the Bluetooth. However, you will only have one way to know the battery level of your AirPods: thanks to the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar. If you connect your AirPods with at least one cutter in the case, the battery of this one will also be displayed.
If you don't see unicorn Bluetooth in the menu bar, go to> System Preferences > Bluetooth and activate by checking, at the bottom, Display Bluetooth in the menu bar.
To know the state of charge of your case, it is necessary that there is at least one cutter inside and that the AirPods are connected to one of these devices. If you do not see your two headphones clearly, they have the same level of charge.
Your AirPods can connect your Apple TV just as easily. However, this will not help you to know their state of charge. If you connect your AirPods to devices other than these, you may not be able to see the battery percentage except maybe with apps.
