Modern smartphones are quite impressive in terms of performance and the Moto G7 is no exception, with its many cutting-edge functions that indicate great innovation in design and assembly. However, these features are very demanding and can sometimes overwhelm and block the device. This is expected from electronic gadgets and can be treated simply by performing a reset. There are several ways to proceed depending on the problem, and each of them can be tried out consecutively until the problem is resolved.

Light reset
This reset method is essentially a forced restart of the device. This is very effective if the device stops responding to touch input or when the screen clears or lights up completely. Usually, this is also accompanied by an on / off button that does not respond. To execute this reset:
- Make sure that the device is charged and that it has not just turned off, especially in the event of a blank screen or unresponsive power button.
- Press and hold the power key for about 20 seconds without releasing it.
- The device should turn on and launch into the boot menu where you should select the reboot option and continue.
For small problems, this very simple reset should be enough to bring the device back to normal. It is also very practical, because it does not erase any data from the device and the user can simply extract the place where he left once the operation is complete. If that doesn't work, then it's time to call the big guns.
Hard or factory reset
This is a more complete reset which basically deletes all user data acquired during use. This means that you must first make a backup before trying to run it. It is generally recommended that you make consistent backups on platforms such as Google Drive on a regular basis. Once everything is in place in terms of backup, make sure that the device is sufficient food (about X% at least) or connect a charger, then follow these simple steps:
- Access the Device settings menu
- Scroll down to the 'advanced' category and locate the 'reset options'
- Select the 'Factory reset' option which will warn you that all data on the device will be erased, confirm it and continue.
- The device will prompt for a screen lock entry for security. Enter this and select the clear all run option.
This reset should resolve any issues and restart the phone with a blank slate. For a quicker and less complicated reset, avoid personalization or recovery of Google backup during initial start-up, but configure all this once all operations have returned to normal. If this reset method is not effective or cannot be performed, another option is described below.
Use the buttons to reset
This method is very useful when the phone is simply inaccessible due to security functions such as locking the screen. Just like the second method, all data on the device will be erased and will be restored to their "new" state. Leave the Google Account information for the device close and ready as it will be needed later. The battery must also be at least 25% and a convenient Wi-Fi network must be available nearby to perform this reset.
- Simultaneously press the power button on / off until the device answers
- Now press the lower volume key again to bring up the recovery mode.
- Once the recovery indicator appears, confirm this mode with the on / off key
- Press the volume up and power buttons simultaneously to display a variety of options.
- Access the data erasure option using the volume keys and confirm the selection with the on / off key, which will prompt further confirmation.
The device will perform a factory reset and erase the entire contents of the device. The customization will have to be redone after the reset is complete, which should resolve any device issues.
