How to Save Videos from Twitter to Desktop
It is easier to download Twitter videos to the desktop because you don’t need to install any program.
To get started, you need to have the direct link to the tweet that contains the video you want to download. This process also works for animated GIFs.
You just have to right click on the video, then on Copy video address. You will see a message appear at the top of the screen that reads Copied link so you know the action was successful.
Then you need to use a third party website to download the video. There are a large number of these types of websites available, all of which work the same.
You can choose any of them. If one stops working, try a different one:
A little word of caution when it comes to using websites like these. They’re completely free, don’t watermark or compromise the videos you download, and rely on ads to maintain that status. However, many ads will have words like “Open” or “Download” to try and trick you into clicking on them.
Be sure to follow our instructions carefully to make sure you are clicking on elements of the website and not advertisements.
We will use savetweetvid.com for our instructions and screenshots. Again, the process is the same on all sites, but the exact wording of the fields and buttons may differ.
Paste ( Ctrl + V ) the link you copied into the field Enter the Twitter URL . Click on Download.
You will then be presented with various quality options like 480p and 720p. In other words, the higher the number, the better the video quality.
Click with the right button on the button Download and click on Save link as . You can now choose where on your computer you want to store the video. Once chosen, click on Record .
You can then open the video using a media player.
How to Record Videos from Twitter on Android
There are various Twitter video downloader apps on the play store that allow you to save Twitter videos.
We recommend using Download Twitter Videos. The service is free, though heavily backed by ads that you can remove for a small fee.
Once the app is installed, open Twitter and find the tweet from which you want to save the video. Press the share icon (three connecting circles) and select Share Tweet via . Then choose Download Twitter Video .
The download application will then open with the tweet URL pasted in the field at the top. Tap the icon Download at the bottom right of your screen.
Tap the desired video quality (again, the higher the resolution, the better the video). The video will then be downloaded, which you can see at the bottom of the screen.
It is also worth adjusting the settings of the Download Twitter Videos app. Tap the icon Cog at the top right of the screen to do this. Here you can change the download directory . This sets the folder where the videos are saved, so you can put them in your default media gallery or in a new folder.
Another good option to select is to always download the highest quality video . This means that you won’t have to select the video quality for every download. However, this may not be the best option if you want to conserve your data usage when you’re not using Wi-Fi.
You can play the downloaded videos in the Download Twitter Videos app. You can also play them in the native media player of your device.
How to Record Videos from Twitter on iOS
The way to download videos from Twitter on iOS is a bit more complicated than on desktop or Android. This is due to the way iOS handles media playback and downloads.
To get started, download MyMedia on the App Store. This is a file manager app.
Open Twitter and navigate to the tweet from which you want to download the video. Tap the icon Share (arrow pointing up) and select Share Tweet via . Choose Copy link to Tweet .
Then open the MyMedia app. Press on Navigator in the lower pane. In the URL bar, go to savetweetvid.com (or any of the other services we’ve listed in the Desktop section above.)
Hold down the field Enter the Twitter URL and stick the url in it. Push the button Download .
You will then see different quality options like 480p and 720p. The higher number represents the better resolution. Hold down the button Download chosen and copy the link.
Paste this link in the MyMedia URL bar and press the icon Download . The video will then be stored in the section Media of the MyMedia application.
You can end here and leave the video in the MyMedia app, if you want. However, you probably want the video in your iOS Camera Roll.
To do this, go to the section Media from MyMedia, tap the video, then tap Save to film. You can now access the video just as you would any other media you created.
