Having a weak or slow WiFi signal is one of the biggest IT problems of the moment. When we subscribe to a WiFi Internet package for the home or office, speed is not the only important thing, other factors we often do not think of can be the cause of signal problems.
Have a fast and powerful signal
We can not deny that the speed of your WiFi is important, especially if you often go on streaming video platforms in 4K, play online or download large files. However, this is not the only factor you need to consider.
You've probably already noticed that even though the WiFi icon bars appear full on the screen of your devices, the signal you receive remains weak. This is because the bars indicate the state of the network, but not its state of operation.
Check the router
The router is this device in which we connect the network cable to provide a wireless signal to our devices. The first indication that something is wrong with your WiFi are the light signals that are in this device: make sure they are turned on and they are green. If one is dyed or red, it may mean that it is precisely the main cause of the problem.
In a second step, you need to place the router in an area that allows the wireless signal waves to propagate effectively through your home or office. Try to place it in high areas and without physical obstacles. It is also recommended to place the router in the cart of other electronic devices, especially those that provide electromagnetic waves (such as microwaves or some phones). Furniture or wooden doors are not a major obstacle to propagating the waves of your WiFi, so do not break your head trying to position your router in impossible places.
Walls and blocking signals
Walls (especially if they are very thick or incorporate metal) can also become an obstacle to overcome. Few people live or work in areas without partitions separating rooms or offices. A good option is to adopt network extensions, an action that is neither expensive nor complicated (just connect them to an electrical outlet). Thanks to them, the wireless wave gate will reach your devices more efficiently.
