The iPhone battery is an annoying subject. She can never last long enough and rarely likes phone updates. Apple added a functionality for the battery with iOS 13: the optimized recharge. Optimized recharging aims to limit the wear and tear on your iPhone’s battery.
1. Operation of the optimized recharge
A battery that wears out quickly is, in short, a battery that is used a lot (too) often in charge. It is a battery that heats up more than it should. It is therefore not good to leave your smartphone in direct sunlight, to use too long, too often apps that heat the phone (and charge it at the same time) or to leave it plugged in all day.
Pokémon Go players know this. Go hunting with the external battery, but they also felt the iPhone heat up well…
It is not for nothing that in the event of overheating many devices no longer accept the load or completely switch off.
The optimized recharge will analyze your habits. Generally, you will charge your iPhone (around the same time). Often at night or as soon as you get home from work. Except that it doesn’t take as long for your iPhone to charge. In most cases, it remains charged when it is at 100% which not only is not useful, but in addition can be harmful for the battery.
The optimized recharge will then charge your iPhone normally up to 80%. This percentage will be maintained and then charges to 100% at the last moment so that your iPhone is ready at the usual time when you unplug it.
In the attached screenshot you can see the charging time and how the phone is 80% for some time.
2. Activate this feature
Activating the optimized recharge is fast, but for it to work perfectly you will have to activate location services.
Indeed, it has been said previously that this feature uses your habits. However, you must give him permission to analyze your habits and verify that you are at home (and not on vacation).
2.1. It all starts in Settings > Confidentiality > Location service ;
2.2. Activate Location service ;
2.3. Go down until you find System services ;
2.4. Activate System customization ;
2.5. Squeeze Important places ;
2.6. Activate Important placess;
Now that you have activated these features, all you have to do is activate the optimized recharge.
2.7. Go to Settings > Drums > Battery status ;
2.8. Activate Optimized battery recharge.
It is on this same page that you can see the overall status of your battery.
If you never connect your phone at the same time of the day or if you are always traveling, this feature may not be able to benefit you. However, optimized recharging does limit the wear and tear on your iPhone’s battery.
