How to Install Windows from a USB Flash Drive

When your computer does not have an optical drive such as a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, installing Windows is more difficult than usual. The problem is the same when you buy Windows directly in the form of an iso file, or when you want, for example, to test the Windows 10 Technical Preview ISO file. The easiest way is then to go through a USB key by creating a bootable medium allowing to install Windows.

How to Install Windows from a USB Flash Drive

For this operation, we are going to use a small software that is as simple as it is practical: Windows USB / DVD Download Tool. After downloading it, just run the program:

1Once your iso file is selected, click on the button Next.

2

Then click on the button USB Device.

3

Finally, click on Beging copying. Note that all of the data on the key will be lost!

Windows USB / DVD Download Tool will then format the USB drive first and then copy the encapsulated files into the Windows .iso image.

4

After a few minutes, your USB drive will contain your Windows installation ready to use!

If you are using an Antivirus with real-time protection, it may be necessary to temporarily deactivate it for the duration of the operation if it fails.

Your Windows installation USB key can now be used: just insert it into your PC’s USB port and turn it on. If the computer does not start on the key, then it will be necessary to go to the BIOS in order to change the boot order of the drives.

Good installation !
