Today, we are explaining how to install an APK on Android, in other words, how to install an app without going through the Play Store. It's very easy, no need for root or technical knowledge, just follow our tutorial!
Note: For security reasons, Google defaults to installing APK files. So be aware that you are taking a risk by downloading and installing an APK file. Google cannot guarantee the security of the application. So be careful if you decide to install an APK file, especially on the source of the APK file. If in doubt, don't take any chances.
First of all: allow the installation of external applications
By default, your Android smartphone does not allow you to install applications other than through the Google Play Store. You can of course change this, just check a box to get rid of this problem:
- Go to your Settings> Security
- Check the box Unknown Sources
Easy, right? Before continuing, it may be necessary to explain why Google does not allow this by default. It is simply for security reasons. By allowing the installation of other sources, it allows the user to install anything and everything on his device. By default this feature is therefore disabled to avoid problems but if you know what you are doing, all this will not pose any problem. So be careful and do not install any file, check that you have downloaded it from a reliable source.
Now we can pass the step of installing your application.
Install an APK
Choose the application you want to install, the installation file is in format .apk (it's sort of the equivalent of the setup file on Windows). Here are some links to find the latest useful APKs on your Android.
If you are looking for a specific APK, you will find it on the APKMirror website. Then the procedure is very simple. Follow these steps!
1. Download the APK in question.
2. Go to your downloads and open it.
3. Click on the application, then confirm by clicking on Install
And voil! If you install the APK of an application you will find the shortcut cr in your application drawer and on your home screen. This method is also valid when you want to install an update of an already downloaded application.
If for some reason you do not want to download the APK directly from your device, know that you can also download it to your PC and then transfer it to your smartphone. You will just have to use a file manager to locate and open it.
