How to fix screen burn on your Android smartphone

Ghost image or afterimage are names given to permanent discoloration of your smartphone screen caused by irregular use of pixels. Prolonged use of static images may create a permanent shadow or ghost of that image on the screen. This problem is more common than you might think and most often occurs on AMOLED displays (although LCD screens are not completely free from this bug). Fortunately, there is a solution to restore the image quality of your device.

Screen phantom occurs when phosphorus compounds that emit light to produce images lose intensity with prolonged use. Additionally, irregular use can “burn” an image on the screen that will be visible all the time.

Many apps available on the Play Store promise to reduce or even fix the problem. You’ll want an app that’s compatible with your display type.

For LCD screens: there is a dedicated application, LCD Burn-in Wiper . However, this tool is not suitable for OLED or AMOLED displays, such as those found on Samsung Galaxy devices. For this you will need a different app.

The concept is simple: a sequence of primary colors is displayed on your device, restoring the “burnt” pixels. In fact, this was the original function of computer screen savers: a dynamic image appears when the screen is idle to allow the pixels to “exercise” and avoid the same display area. does not remain constantly illuminated.
