Windows 8 automatically saves recently opened files and locations as well as recently used software. For security or just privacy reasons, you may want to erase this list and prevent it from being created later. Here’s how to do it.
How to delete the list of recently opened files and software
To prevent Windows from saving the last opened items, whether they are documents or programs, you need to do the following:
Perform right click on the taskbar and choose the option Properties in the pop-up menu that just opened.
Go to the tab Shortcut lists.
Uncheck the boxes Store recently opened programs and Store and view recently opened files in Shortcut Lists.
Finally click on the button ApplyFrom now on, Windows 8 will no longer save and display recently opened programs and files. Likewise, the list Recent locations present in the favorites of Windows Explorer will remain empty.
