How to best use the ECG app on Apple Watch

This year, Apple launched its ECG app for Apple Watch Series 4 via a software update, which allows you to monitor your heart rate electrical patterns and analyze them to prevent potential heart problems. You don't know how to use it? Take a look at our guide!

What you need to use ECG on Apple Watch

You only need two things to use the Apple Watch ECG app:

ECG: is it an effective medical tool?

It may be true that the ECG of the Apple Watch has already saved lives, but remember that this test in no way replaces the diagnosis of a doctor in case of heart attack, stroke brain or other health problem.

In summary: do not trust the ECG functionality of your Apple Watch because it will never replace a medical specialist.

How to set up and use the ECG app on Apple Watch

Before you can read it for the first time, open the Sant app on your iPhone. The first time you launch the application, you will be asked if you want to configure the ECG function, where you will need to enter your date of birth and read a guide on what the function can and cannot do.

For more accurate results, we recommend that you keep your arm resting on a desk, place the index finger of your other hand on the crown and remain as still as possible, as any movement could affect the test.

When the 30-second test is complete, you will get one of the following three results: sinus rhythm, atrial fibrillation (FibA), or sinus rhythm. A sinus rhythm means that the heart beats evenly. AFib means that the heart beats irregularly. Not conclusive means that the application has encountered difficulties in obtaining a reading due to your movement or other factors.

How to track all measurements

After each ECG test, the Health app informs you of the results on your iPhone and allows you to view a summary graph of your heart rate and get some relevant advice. This measurement is also easy to show your doctor, since you can also export it to PDF.

Have you ever used the ECG app on the Apple Watch Series 4?
