Did any weapons from GTA 6 end up in Red Dead Redemption 2? This is in any case what thinks this player who looked at the code of the latter, where he found elements referring to guns and pistols too recent for the game of western. After a meager teaser from Rockstar, this discovery could be the confirmation long awaited by fans around the world.

GTA VI

While GTA 4: Complete Edition may well arrive on PS5 and Xbox Series X in 2021, fans of the saga are still on the lookout fortangible information on the 6th opus. 7 years after the release of GTA 5, its successor is starting to be seriously overdue, and Rockstar’s meager teaser on Google Maps is struggling to fill the excitement of players. Obviously, when one of them announces having discovered elements of the game in the code of Red Dead Redemption 2, the latest ultra popular title from the studio, there is something to look forward to.

The elements in question would be weapons, nested in a file named “propsets.meta”. DerekLeet, the GTA forum member behind the find, says he came across mentions such as “Browning,” which would refer to a gun, “L1AL” which would be the name of a gun and finally a AK47. These weapons are far too recent to take place in the universe of Red Dead Redemption 2. Would Rockstar have placed them there to perform tests within the western game? Difficult to say, their very presence has enough to feed the fantasies of millions of players.

The future weapons of GTA 6 in the code of Red Dead Redemption 2?

DerekLeet also specifies that the weapons discovered are not the ones that can be used in GTA 5. Indeed, the AK47 of the game is called “W_AR_ASSUALTRIFLE”, while the mention made in the code of Red Dead Redemption 2 is “W_AR_AK47”. Although this observation is not in itself sufficient to confirm an upcoming release of the 6th installment of the saga, it raises interesting questions. However, beware of hasty conclusions: we still remember this famous map of the game which would have leaked on the net and which finally turned out to be a false.

On the other hand, if this file is in the code of Red Dead Redemption 2 since its release, namely October 26, 2018, it would mean that Rockstar has been working on the game for some time now, which can give hope to an announcement in the near future. The GTAs are among known to be one of the blockbusters of the video game, the 5th chapter being one of the games having cost the most money to produce all time. It is also one of the best selling games on last-gen consoles, with a total of 135 million copies sold.
