GoPro announces HERO 8 Black, Mods and MAX

The famous action camera maker GoPro has released their brand new action camera, the GoPro HERO8 Black, along with a number of mods for the camera. The company has also released a brand new camera, called GoPro Max, which has two lenses and a lot of cool features.

GoPro HERO8 Black

The GoPro HERO8 Black improves upon last year’s HERO7. The company has improved its HyperSmooth stabilization found in the HERO7 and its now called HyperSmooth 2.0. The company claims that HyperSmooth 2.0 is significantly improved over last year’s stabilization technology and now works in all resolutions and in all frame rate settings of the GoPro HERO8 Black.

The GoPro HERO8 comes with a frameless mount thanks to the new integrated mounting fingers that fold into the camera body when not in use. The company has also made the lens twice as shock resistant as before.

The HERO8 ships with a single physical lens, but users can choose from four digital lenses. With these, users can select fields of view between narrow, linear, wide and superior. Other improvements have also been made, including improved HDR in photos, LiveBurst mode, customizable onscreen shortcuts, and capture presets.

The HERO8 supports 4K60 video recording and 1080p slow motion video at 240 frames per second. There is also RAW support in all of the camera’s photo modes, as well as support for 1080p live streaming.

The GoPro HERO8 Black is priced at Rs. 36,500 in India, and is available for pre-order now, with shipping slated for October 15.

GoPro has also announced three mods for the HERO8 Black that could convert it into a full-fledged production powerhouse.

Media Mod

The Media Mod comes complete with a shotgun mic, with two hot shoe mounts, and Type-C, HDMI, and 3.5mm ports. It is priced at $ 79.99.

Mod Display

If you are a vlogger this might be of interest to you. The Display Mod is connected to the Media Mod and has a 1.9 inch folding screen on the front (or back). Once unfolded, vloggers can use it to frame shots and vlogs, after which they can be folded back. The Display Mod is also available for $ 79.99.

Light mod

For low light conditions, the Light Mod will be useful. This mod can be connected to the Media Mod or to a classic GoPro mount. It comes with a rechargeable battery, diffuser and 10m water resistance. The Light Mod is priced at $ 49.99.

GoPro Max

The GoPro Max is another camera launched by GoPro. It comes with two lenses and can be used in different ways. Obviously, the camera can be used as a single lens GoPro with high stabilization, in-app built-in horizon leveling that eliminates the need for a gimbal. It can also be used as a 360 camera thanks to its two lenses.

Additionally, the company has improved the GoPro app to include a new crop feature for 360 videos. Users can now crop their 360 footage from GoPro Max right on their phone and use ultra-smooth pans and transitions.

The GoPro Max comes with a touchscreen, 6 microphones for directional sound recording and support for 270 ° panoramic views with one click.
