Google wants to have its own Periscope

Since the appearance of Meerkat, one of the first applications allowing smartphone owners to send live video to social networks, the functionality has been adopted by Facebook (Facebook Live) and Twitter (Periscope).

The success of this type of application is growing, and today it's Google's turn to wish to take advantage of it. After deploying a live game streaming function on YouTube, Google wants to have its own application allowing smartphone users to broadcast video live.

The application is called YouTube Connect and should be released soon on iOS and Android (by May). The principle will be modeled on Periscope: the user will be able to launch a live video stream accompanied by a chat window to chat with their spectators.
