Google presented the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, its new high-end smartphones, at a press conference held last Wednesday. Let’s discover now the technical characteristics of these two phones, which will compete with iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus Apple.
Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL: technical characteristics
These two smartphones are equipped with a Snapdragon 835 processor, 4 GB of RAM, a 12.2 megapixel camera (f / 1.8) on the back with optical stabilizer, an 8 megapixel camera (f /2.4) at the front. They support fast charging, USB-C (no jack), Bluetooth 5.0, have a fingerprint sensor on the back, are water resistant (IP67). They will be available in versions with 64 and 128 GB of storage.
In terms of differences now, the Pixel 2 has a battery of 2,700 mAh and the Pixel 2 XL of 3,520 mAh. The dimensions of the standard model are 145.7 x 69.7 x 7.8 mm for a weight of 143 grams, and those of the XL model are 157.9 x 76.7 x 7.9 mm for 175 grams.
In addition, the Pixel 2 sports a 5-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. On the Pixel 2 XL, there is a 6-inch P-OLED screen of 2,880 x 1,440 pixels. Interesting detail, the borders are thinner on the Pixel 2 XL than on the Pixel 2.
No marketing in France
The online search giant announces a music recognition system for its two smartphones. It does not require the Internet to function. The backlight of the screen was abandoned: it then constantly lit to display useful information such as the time.
The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will be launched in Australia, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, India and Germany. No release in France is planned. The price of the Pixel 2 will start at 799 euros, while that of the Pixel 2 XL will start at 939 euros. It will take up to 1,049 euros for the Pixel 2 XL with 128 GB of internal memory.
