Google Calendar changes address securely

Google-new-logoIn the coming weeks, the primary URL for Google Calendar on the web will no longer be www.google.com/calendar but calendar.google.com. Without going into details, Google discusses a measure to strengthen security.

The Mountain View company expects minimal impact for Google Apps users, knowing that the old URL will simply point to the new one. Nevertheless, there could be complications with extensions for Google Chrome if the developers do not make the necessary updates.

In addition, users who have enabled discrete notifications (an experimental feature) in Google Calendar will need to authorize the calendar.google.com domain when prompted.

This URL change will not affect users of the Google Calendar mobile app. Note that the Hangouts standalone web application released this summer also has a similar URL: hangouts.google.com.
