Gmail gets a touch of Snapchat with phmres messages

emailWith Dmail, Gmail users can now choose the validity period of their correspondence. When sending an email, it is thus possible to choose for how long the content will be visible to the recipient.

The extension thus takes up the principle of ephemeral messaging which made the success of Snapchat on mobile. In passing, the exchanges are encrypted using a 256-bit key. The recipient does not directly recover the mails, the messages being stored on a database, which makes it possible to impose a period of validity or a precise consultation time.

According to TechCrunch, the extension could soon be available in a free mobile application that will be funded by the sale of premium services.
