This is the time of year when the gaming industry is generally the busiest. Several major conferences have followed one another, and it is a time when video game companies are their most aggressive marketing. But this year has been turned upside down due to the global coronavirus pandemic. We have already seen the cancellation of E3 and GDC due to the epidemic. The next big conference will be Gamescom 2020, and at the moment it is still in progress, but they are preparing what it will change.
Via their official Twitter, Gamescom confirmed that the event should continue. But they are cautious and say that there are plans in place for cancellations and that participants will be reimbursed in one form or another for their tickets. You can see the full statement below.
Gamesom 2020 is slated to take place in Cologne, Germany. It is an international event and generally organized for many more people than the other conferences mentioned. This will happen at the end of August, so those responsible for the event are probably hoping that by then the current epidemic will be gone. But all things considered, the scales are probably tilted towards this one which does not happen either.
