The Galaxy S21 (S30) would offer much better battery life than their predecessors, the Galaxy S20. According to a famous informant, Samsung would have worked at length on its Exynos 2100 chipset in order to reduce its energy consumption. The leaker therefore expects an autonomy gain of 35%.
Last year, the Galaxy S20s powered by an Exynos 990 SoC came under fire for their performance. Many users felt that the chipset designed by Samsung engineers was not up to the level of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865+ that powers the US versions.
All the Galaxy S20 benchmarks showed it: the Snapdragon equivalents delivered significantly more power than their Exynos counterpart. Some users also accused the Exynos version ofoffer less autonomy than smartphones powered by a Qualcomm processor. A petition to push Samsung to ditch the Exynos chips has even emerged.
The Exynos 2100 would offer better autonomy
According to the information shared by the informant behind the Youtube channel The Galox on Twitter, Samsung would have done everything to correct the situation with its new Exynos 2100. Engraved in 5nm, the chipset would allow the Galaxy S21 (S30) sold in Europe to guarantee better autonomy than the Galaxy S20.
“The Galaxy S21 with Exynos 2100 has approximately 25% to 35% more battery life than the S20 with Exynos” says The Galox in a tweet. As we told you in our Galaxy S20 Ultra test, the smartphone offers a little disappointing autonomy. With the 120 Hz screen activated, it claims to be recharged after 24 hours.
The icing on the cake, the Exynos 2100 is afforded the luxury of offering a better performance than the SoC Snapdragon 888, the chip engraved in 5nm from Qualcomm. “The Galaxy S21 with Snapdragon 888 has approximately 15% more battery life than the S20 series with Snapdragon 865+” emphasizes The Galox. While waiting for full tests, we obviously invite you to take the leaker’s assertions with hindsight.
That’s not all. According to a benchmark shared by Ice Universe, another famous leaker in the middle, the Exynos 2100 would also be more powerful than the Snapdragon 888. We will know more about the Samsung chipset from January 12, 2021, date of the presentation of the SoC. Two days later, the firm will present the Galaxy S21.
Galaxy S21 with Snapdragon 888 has around 15% better battery life than the S20 series with Snapdragon 865+
Galaxy S21 with Exynos 2100 has about 25% – 35% better battery life than the S20 with Exynos.
Overall, big battery improvements.
