In a month, the new Apple TV will arrive in France. Unfortunately for the future buyers, the hexagonal chains seem ready to sulk the solution of Apple.
NextInpact has contacted the main players in this sector, to question them on this subject and the few answers obtained do not give much optimism.
"So we contacted these different channels to get their feeling. Because they are not always partisan of innovation or simplicity of use for their users. Remember that 6Play and MyTF1 still refuse to work with AirPlay or Chromecast technologies for example. These, however, allow to launch a program on a television in a few clicks from a smartphone or tablet. None of our interlocutors has yet answered our questions with the exception of M6 and Canal.
The latter thus let us know that he had for the moment no intention to propose a MyCanal application for Apple TV (…)
On the side of M6, we are told not to have "short-term project with 6play on this platform but we are currently studying the opportunities offered." It remains to be seen how this will evolve over time. Especially with the rise of Android TV at home and the pressure of Apple fans, the status quo will not be sustainable very long.
The historical players in the television sector should embrace new technologies in our opinion, rather than dragging their feet.
