France is the third host of dangerous sites

G-Data-dangerous-sites-hostingDuring the first half of the year, the security company G Data (PDF) counted more than 3 million new strains of malware. It is not a record in the matter but still an increase of almost 65% compared to the same period last year, and an average of a dozen new malicious codes per minute.

G Data highlights in particular a strong growth in adware and potentially unwanted software that started in 2014. These harmful are the most common threats. The German publisher has also looked into attacks targeting users via their web browser. More than 25 million dangerous web pages were put online in the first quarter.

It can be phishing or infected pages. And surprise, France is ranked third in the world among the countries that host the most dangerous pages. With 8.2% of dangerous pages detected, France is just behind China (9.5%) but far behind the United States (43.5%).
