Ford did not go hand in hand with reference to Tesla’s few construction concerns. In an interview, Darren Palmer, head of the electrical section at Ford, said the Mustang Mach-E is far superior to its competitor’s vehicles. He also referred to Apple to illustrate the revolution that the car represents.
Ford has always been sure of itself when it comes to new vehicles. The latest addition to its stables, the Mustang Mach-E has necessarily been the subject ofcomparison with Tesla cars. As such, the automaker recently claimed that the Mach-E is the only real competitor to the Model Y. In an interview with Autoblog, Darren Palmer, head of the electrical section at Ford, allowed himself to go even further. far into the clash.
“The doors close properly, the colors of plastics and other materials match perfectly, the bumpers don’t fall off, the roof doesn’t come off when you wash it, the handles don’t get stuck in cold weather… ” The leader is probably referring to this brand new Model Y which lost its roof on the highway last October. A umpteenth manufacturing defect which has tarnished a little more the image of Tesla, already very tarnished in this area.

Ford tackles Tesla flaws
This is not the first time that a Ford employee has attacked Tesla’s reputation on this subject. Earlier this year, a Ford Mustang Mach-E engineer criticized the build quality of vehicles built by Elon Musk’s firm. Although considered very safe, Tesla cars clearly do not all benefit from the same care during production. The problem is such that some customers have taken legal action for very serious design flaws on the Model X and Y.
In his interview, Darren Palmer also compares the Mustang Mach-E to the first iPhone. For him, the car will be at the origin of the same revolution than the smartphone in its day. According to him, many people did not understand his interest while theirs had a keyboard and better battery life. Once he made them try, “They said they should have tried it long before”, according to him. “Electric cars can be like this”, he explains, before adding that the Mustang Mach-E “amplifies all attributes“ of these vehicles.
