Corning, maker of glasses for iPhone and iPad, is said to have succeeded in make a foldable glass.
This would have been confirmed by John Bayne, a senior officer of the Corning company. Samples would have been sent to customers. They would be functional, but would not yet meet all the specifications requested.
The foldable glass comes froma complex manufacturing process. More resistant and more suited to touch than foldable polymer screens, there is still a long way to go for Corning.
Indeed, the glasses produced still need to be improved in terms of the angle of twist as well as the resistance of the glass following repeated twisting.
The company remains on course and hopes to be able to market its product by 2021.
Will a new iPhone carry Corning’s foldable glass? The future will tell !
