The brand Faraday Future is very young but benefits from solid Chinese capital giving it great ambitions in the field of electric and connected vehicles. For CES 2016 in Las Vegas, it unveiled the all-electric concept FF Zero1, a single-seat supercar with atypical shapes and which would be capable of reaching 320 km / h.
If it remains to be seen whether the concept will go to the commercialization stage, the company has just launched the first stone of a huge production site installed in Nevada and which must cost $ 1 billion, wanting to compete with the Gigafactory of Tesla Motors, also located in Nevada.
Faraday Future already promises to supply its factory with green energies (solar panels, geothermal energy …) and to use high quality parts to manufacture its future electric vehicles. The site must employ 4,500 people and serve as much a production site as a showroom.
A project of this magnitude normally takes about four years to emerge, but Faraday Future has set itself the goal of bringing it to life in just two years. From there, the future manufacturer can start producing electric vehicles using VPA (Vehicle Platform Architecture), a kind of modular platform that can make different types of vehicles emerge from a common base.
