A security breach recently discovered in FaceTime (the video calling app ofApple) allows the user to hear and even see their contact on a iPhone before he even picked up!
The bug was reported on the site 9to5mac and has also been reported by several media. The apple brand reacted very quickly and disabled the functionality. Moreover, a video circulates on the canvas and shows the ease with which this bug makes it possible to listen to the sound coming from an iPhone contacted via FaceTime.
The bug affects all versions since iOS 12.1 because it is the new group call function of Facetime which is concerned. To reproduce this problem, here are the steps to follow:
- use FaceTime to call a video contact; while ringing, swipe up from the bottom of the screen;
- press “add a person” and their own telephone number; press “add a person to FaceTime”;
For now, Apple has disabled the group calling system. There is therefore no possibility of exploiting the flaw. A press release launched by the American firm indicates that it has ” identified a fix that will be introduced in a software update later in the week “
