This year, Apple will launch a iPhone without fingerprint sensor Touch ID. The model will have facial recognition instead Face ID as a locking system. The functionality should be generalized for all models of 2018.
TheiPhone X is the premium apple brand phone this year. Being the tenth anniversary model of the range of smartphones, this one has a unique design and includes new options. Because of its OLED screen on the entire front, this iPhone does not have a Home button or a Touch ID fingerprint sensor. Facial recognition is offered as an alternative, thanks in particular to 3D and infrared sensors in the front camera. The technology behind the system is called TrueDepth.
Analyst at KGI Securities, Ming-Chi Kuo is among the first to announce the arrival of Face ID facial recognition on the iPhone X. In a recent research note, the analyst explained that Apple would consider including this feature on all its future phones planned for 2018.
Before that, the apple brand will however have to solve its problems in terms of the production of certain components related to TrueDepth technology. As a reminder, these concerns would slow the assembly of the iPhone X in the factories of the brand’s suppliers and could greatly limit the stock available at launch.
