Disney hit a big blow with the revelation of its streaming service Disney +. The magical brand will offer, next November in the United States, a cheaper platform than Netflix ($ 6.99 per month), full 4K support, all of its exclusive licenses (Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, National Geographic, Fox)… And may well be available on Apple TV from the Cupertino company.
The Disney + app will be “in all likelihood available from traditional app distributors, Apple being one of them,” said Bob Iger, CEO of Disney, in an interview with Bloomberg. Thus, the sure competition that there will be between Apple TV + and Disney + does not seem to worry the two big pundits. Disney + will also be available on smartphones, tablets, computers, TVs and consoles. The company has not yet signed up with everyone, but that should not be long.
Besides, Bob Iger has also been on Apple’s board of directors for several years. Doubts about a conflict of interest are growing. “So far so good,” said Bob Iger. “I am aware of my fiduciary responsibility to the shareholders of Apple as a member of the board of directors,” he added. He therefore does not intend to leave his activities with the apple brand.
