data limits won't be a problem

At the beginning of the month, PC Gamer took its calculator and shared the consumption estimates for the Google Stadia service with us. Remember that this is a Cloud Gaming service, that is, video games launched on remote servers that only send the image, sound and commands to the player who can then enjoy them from a smartphone, a television connected, a tablet or any screen with an Internet connection.

With this system, the user is no longer dependent on its hardware configuration to enjoy AAA games in the best conditions, but on the quality of its connection to the Internet. We then learned that an hour of play under Stadia Pro and in the optimal settings represented 16 GB of download, or 65 H for 1 TB. In 1080P we descend below the bar of 10 G per hour … But now, due to the need for sufficient bandwidth, some users will be able to take advantage of 4G sharing on their smartphone (or more simply, they will want to take advantage of their smartphone to play on the go), a situation which then involves adapting with the data envelopes of the packages.

For Phil Harrison, the boss of Stadia, the problem is not really one since operators should naturally raise the ceilings of their Data envelopes to adapt to streaming video games.

Some operators thus offer unlimited data consumption in 4G in their plans, but they are still marginal today. France is also a sort of exception in the world with a very competitive telecoms market and rather supplied with offers with specially supplied packages for a price lower than the international average.

It therefore remains to be seen whether the ISPs and telephone operators will quickly adapt to these new uses. We should also remember that not all of them accept 4G sharing yet.
